This is gray hair and is usually genetic from either or both parents/grandparents. You can't control it but you can color it.
Why do I have white/gray hairs I am only 29? what is causing this and how can it be prevented?
Heredity I'm afraid to say. I get gray hair, too, and I'm only 28 - been getting them since the age of 24. My father is completely gray and began going gray at the age of 30. His brother was totally gray by the age of 25.
Buy some hair dye and don't worry about it. It's your genetics, and hair dye is the only thing that will prevent it.

Sometimes stress is claimed to cause grey hair, but mostly it's genetics, I knew some people that all their kids (sons and daughters) were totally grey by their early 20's! I don't think it can be prevented (unless caused by stress). You can always dye it to match the rest of your hair, but check with your husband or boyfriend first and see if they really care if you have some grey. Some women actually look quite attractive with partially grey hair. So, there's no point spending the money, and exposing yourself to what ever stuff is in the dye if grey hair is not a big issue with either of you.

My mum began to grow a grey streak in her hair when she fell pregnant with me - she was 33. I'm not sure if pregnancy can affect it or that it was just a coincidence.

It could be in your jeans or it could be that your really stressed out so maybe you should take a day to relax and pamper yourself.
