You're rare though. Most here in the US are DARK. They're darker than I am, and I'm half Native American. You have the German traits that trickled in way back in the day.

Even the southern Italians are considered caucasion. Yes, they have olive skin and dark hair, but they are still considered to be white. My husband is Northern Italian...with red hair. My son's father (former relationship) is also Northern Italian...and his mother had red hair.

The thing is...when you THINK 'stereotypical Italian'...most people think of a guy named Luigi, with dark hair, a thick moustache and a thicker accent. Northern Italians are everywhere...they just don't have the stereotypical features.

Northern Italians have a Teutonic blood line and hence could be blond. Most Italians are of Mediterranean descent and are generally darker.

The northern parts of italy have a different ethnicity then the south,In the south there is alot of gypsy blood like in spain and portugal......It happens in everyyyyy country,its ok your Italian! Yea you can consider yourself white but not everyone in your country is like that. Its the same in portugal but NO one there considers themselves white...

I have Italian friends, three have beautiful, light, peaches and cream complexions with blond hair and blue eyes, seven have black hair, brown eyes and light colored skin, I'm from the USA by the way.

I live in NYC (where there's many Italians) and have been to Italy once .... I would say that roughly, the typical Italian has brown hair, hazel to brown eyes, and a medium "caucasian" skin tone (not pale, not olive). In a nutshell, they just look like dark haired brown eyed white people.

In my experience, olive-skinned Italians are as rare as pale, blonde blue eyed Italians. I met one or two Italians who look Arab, and a few who look Swedish, but they don't seem to represent the general trend.

Regarding Sicily: yes, the Moors invaded, but NO, they did not contribute much to the gene pool. Genetically, Sicilians are within the European spectrum, quite far from Arabs or North Africans.

im southern italian and live in the us. all italians are white, but we from the south are usually much darker with hair and skin than northern italians like you. you guys are closer to germany and switzerland and austria where evreyone there has blonde hair, they are tall, and paler skin. in the south we have dark features like brown hair , brown eyes, and are very tan since we are always out and on the beach.
