What is a good hair color for someone with allergies?

My mom has used several brands of hair color by she is allergic to them. She gets a swollen face and rash. She has bought some without ammonia, and she tries them all on her arm first to see if she as a reaction and she does. She has white hair and she wants to cover them up but we can't find a hair color brand that helps. I would greatly appreciate it if someone out there knew one. She has a two year old, so she also wants it to make her look younger to, she's turning 47 next month.

She shouldn't do it anymore.

Sorry but if she is having a reaction it is better to completely stay away from it, they all basically have the same chemicals.

You can get a shampoo which has a dye colour in it which washes out within about 2 weeks she could try this but would have to do a test on her arm/wrist again.

If this works she could just keep using the shampoo to colour the hair %26amp; t does work as I have tried it myself. It comes in a little sachet.

One thing she may want to try is to get the hair dye at a beauty supply store such as Sally Beaty. The box dyes a person buys at a store such as Walmart may tend to bring out more allergies in a person based on the fact that they're made to dye any hair. If you go to a beauty supply shop and purchase the dye and developer seperatly you can buy a lower volume developer and that may help. I used to buy the boxed ones and they would make my scalp burn and itch and my eyes water. Sitting there waiting for it to settle was torchure and my scalp would just get horrible but since I've started just mixing them on my own I haven't had any problems at all and my hair doesn't get damaged the way it did with the boxed ones. Ask the workers at the beauty supply store and see if they have one for people with heavy allergies.
