I'm asian and I have dark black hair. I have some white hairs not a whole lot. I was told to not color it black because its going to give me a gothic kind of look and also was told its going to look fake. Others told me to color it Dark ash brown. What do you suggest? Are the mens hair color products rated the same as the ones the ladies use?

Every colorant is going to be a little different, whether mens or ladies, but they all do have one thing in common, they recommend doing a colorant test. If you are willing to invest a little time or money, buy a couple of different ones in the darker brown area, and try them out. Depending on your hair color, black may be ok, but often your hair is not quite black, and it looks really strong.

If you are nervous, you may want to have a stylist color your hair the first time. This way, they would be sure to choose a color that is complementary. If you don't like it, they will fix it. It costs a bit more, but should be worth it for the first time. Ask what color it is they use so you can do your own the next time.

You can do it yourself. Buy a L'Oreal product, the color stays longer and make sure you buy something that says it covers gray on the box. I've colored my hair for years, no sense on spending way more at a beauty salon.

Though I have not surveyed the hair of every black person I've known, I would say that in general the texture is thick, coarse and difficult to manage.

What Ema-Roo needs to be aware of is that some black people use products in their hair that make it appear greasy, e.g., cholesterol, but that, naturally, their hair tends to be on the dry side. It is often just the products that make it look greasy.

As far as personal preference with regard to style, I love the look of nice corn-rowing or a short, shaped afro.

As far as padding -- who the heck knows? Ask someone black, not non-blacks.

For a soft natural look , I would go with light chestnut brown , with caramel bonde highlights , and throw in some soft black low lights underneath .

You should buy a straightener and wear it like that for a couple days. Or if your hair is curly(this is one of my favs) do it in little braids, i don't go to a hairdresser for it because then they won't come out forever just spend a little time doing it into like 10 braids. its supa cute.

In the past 2 years or so a ridiculous amount of white hairs have popped out of my head (mostly in the front and around the part). not just a couple but bunches of 7-10 strains, not to mention I've been losing copious amounts of hair as well despite my lack of shampooing and extra conditioner. I'm not sure what you mean by that but all women are different. I think you are talking about skin complexion and in that case you may be right. Both Black and Indian women come in a variety of shades. All women, regardless of race, have different tastes among them so it is difficult to say whether or not someone would find you attractive; beauty is subjective. Me personally, I have dated white guys before and I tend to prefer dark skinned white men, green or brown eyes, brown hair (Italian, Greek, Irish, Jewish etc.) I have only dated one blond pale guy ( two dates) and he literally begged me to go out with him-I just don't prefer pale men. Try dyeing your hair with a "cool" dye, like L'Oreal's Natural Match with cool tones. The cool tones will counteract the reds. I have noticed that most hair dyes are warm dyes, which is why they come out with red undertones.

Try sleeping with conditioner on a regular basis. Mane and Tail shampoo is good. Sleeping with Olive Oil and a shower cap is good (gross but good). You just have to work with it! Good luck

hot oil treatments... you could also try using cream leave in conditioners, and hair lotion, I like Profectives. Deep condition weekly, and if its dry shampoo less, like 1-2x a week and on inbetween days just rinse and condition to add softness and moisture. Comb hair while its wet, put in the moisturizer to seal in moisture, then put it in big braids, let it dry, then you can take the braids don to put it in a style.

Ooooh, first of all, you have my sympathy! Nothing shows faster than white on black! (My best friend has dark, curly, thick hair and looks like she's caught in a snowstorm!)

I've heard that if the white is not too prevalent, try rinsing it every night with tea, the regular kind you brew with a teabag, let it get really dark (the tea, I mean) and then just comb it through. One of my mom's friends did that and hers was always dark and very shiny. There's also 'grecian formula' which came out in the 60s and is some kind of stuff you comb in. Personally, I gave up and bleached it all! When my hairdresser said I had more white than red, I gave up completely!

Sallys Beauty Supply carries color called Gray Busters which is scecially formulated for grey hair. If you are thinking about going that way that would be the color to use.

Color is something you start you must continue, about once a mo. - every 6 wks. you will have to touch it up those roots. If it really bothers you, you should go ahead and have it dyed.

DON'T USE over-the-counter store colors, alot of them are extremely harsh and will damage your hair.

The best thing to do to save hassle of doing it yourself or having to pay a bunch of money to have it done is go to the beauty school and get it done. Yes, it will be a student doing it, but instructed and looked over by a licensed instructor.

Since that is no longer an option you might want to carry a picture of your ex to show cops when they harrass you. Have a picture taken with your son. I kind of get the same thing, only the other way because my daughter is mixed and I am white (blond hair/blue eyes).

The most important thing you can do is to let your son know that you are proud of him and love him even though you look different. I often tell my daughter how her chocolate brown eyes remind me of my mother's eyes (my mother died when my daughter was a baby). Comment to your son how his eyebrows look like yours or his ears are shaped the same way.

Also, use this as an opportunity to let your son know that we don't all have to look alike to love each other. There are lots of people in the same boat you're in. Hang in there and don't think about what others say. Just keep standing up for your little man!!! :)

People look twice and make comments from time to time, but that is just gonna happen. Think back to befor you had the baby, when you were with his mom did you get the same looks? I know that i did. But i had to learn to egnore the looks. It doesnt matter what anyone thinks, he is your son and you love him thats all they need to know. Go for a softer blonde, Honey blonde or Beige blonde. But make sure you use an Intensive conditioner once a week and use a conditioner for coloured and dry hair every day. Also use a serum on your hair to give it shine.

You need to go to a salon. There are "tricks" to make it an even color. Bleached hair can be very tricky when it comes to coloring and making it even.
