Is it a good idea to dye my hair to a sandy brown color?

I have black hair, and I usually keep them short on the side and long on top (like a bang on the Right side) when I part them. Lately, I noticed I have a lot of white hair. The thing is, when white hairs are long, they tend to really stick out. I wanted to dye it kind of sandy brown, like some asian men do. My concern is, can the saloon do it when it is really short on the side (less than 1/2")? Also, I swim a lot, will the chlorine in the pool do something to the color?

You can do it yourself. Buy a L'Oreal product, the color stays longer and make sure you buy something that says it covers gray on the box. I've colored my hair for years, no sense on spending way more at a beauty salon.

I also have a pool. Swimming can tint dyed blond hair green, but that's if you swim a lot. It's recommended that you don't spend a lot of time in pool, because the chlorine can dry hair out and make it brittle.

If you do you'll have to bleach it first because your hair is dark. Then when you swim, the color will fade out, leaving your hair a bleach blonde color. (Trust me, i know from experience.)

The salon can dye your hair if its less than a 1/2". White hairs are very hard to color though. Depending on how strong the chlorine is it may have some effect on the color.
