Why do white girls tan?

why do they try to look hispanic or black, and mostly shun them? (i am not jumping to any conclusions here. don't judge, im not racist)

I love when people star off saying I'm not a racist! I tan because i want to. and that's the only explanation anyone should need to hear.

I think white/ black girls/boys just follow the whims of fashion. Maybe they think it looks good on them, it's sexy....

I don't think white girls Tan to try to look hispanic or black, It's mostly to show a social class thing. If your tan in our society it means you have free time to go to the beach or on vacation somewhere tropical.

The absolute opposite thing is popular in Asian, they think Tan is ugly, if your tan it means you have to work outside and your poor. Being super white is popular.

As for Black girls straighting their hair, I don't know why, probably because they want to try something different, just like some white girls like to get dreads.

I think it all comes down to taste, preference and pop culture. I really don't think it has anything to do with different races imitating eachother.

well I can tell you why I would tan when I was younger...it was to make brake outs less noticeable on my face and to cover bruises on my legs from walking into things. the contrast from those 2 things became much less noticeable and blended in better with a tan.

so bottom line, for me it was vanity. To camouflage the flaws of my skin so that I would look better.

White girl want to look spanish or some other because some don't really enjoy their skin as white, like my dad told me the Japanese people go to the beach and or in a place that you get the heat so much. You know the Japanese are so white that they are tyring to be different.

The black girl straight their hair because their natural hair is curly even though they mix with white. But anyway we can tell right away that they are half black or 100% black.

I tan in the summer time NOT to look Hispanic or black. I do it to have that golden bronze look. You know the healthy glow look. I think black girls hair is a little more high maintenance and that is why they straighten it or put relaxers to calm it down.

It is not that white girls are trying to "look" black or hispanic. For myself I just enjoy the change of colour and the healthy outdorsey look it gives. It is also a good way to get some natural vitamin D.

I tan occassionally so I don't look like I am sick all of the time. I am extremely pale and people often worry that I am ill. It has nothing to do with wanting to look like anyone else.

The white girls I know who tan do so because they feel that being too pasty white is unattractive. I could care less how white I look, I am NOT getting into a tanning bed.

Every white girl i know owns a pair of GHD hair straighteners,as for getting a tan ,that's what white people do it looks healthy.I've never heard of anyone trying to look Hispanic or like a black person.

What people do with their hair or skin isn't anything to do with being a wannabe,more making oneself feel good.
